I am a Learning Experience Designer and…

an industry learning professional with nearly a decade of experience.

  • My journey into education began in the theatre 🎭. As a young teen, I held lead roles in a variety of stage productions, leading to a full scholarship for a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Theatre. This love of oration and improv has lent itself to group facilitation, online as well as in person. I have produced several large group, multi-day events, such as the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People 📚.

Building on my passion for education, I earned an MEd, or Masters of Education 🎓. This academic foundation coupled with several formative years in the classroom have been instrumental in teaching me what it takes to grow employees and serve customers effectively 🌟. By taking what I learned in the classroom and applying it to real-world scenarios, I have been able to design impactful learning experiences that foster both personal and professional growth.

As an LXD 💡, some of my greatest experiences in learning design have come from working with people face-to-face, crafting learning experiences outside the digital space. My background in theatre, combined with my formal education, has uniquely positioned me to create engaging and transformative learning environments.

  • My main authoring tool for eLearning content is Storyline 360 🎨. I love it for the creative potential it brings, allowing me extreme flexibility when crafting online learning content. I am also comfortable with Rise 360🚀, when microlearning is what is truly needed.

  • When I started creating digital learning content, one of the skills I quickly honed was voiceover 🎙️. I am extremely proficient at producing quality dialogue for web-based courses, but not a fan of maintaining that content, especially when working with a team.

Enter, WellSaid Labs 🤖. In the age of generative AI, working with a generative voiceover tool has been a game changer. I now have the power to produce content with multiple characters, in high-quality audio, while maintaining my anonymity.

  • SnagIt may be my most used tool on a regular daily basis. Its ability to screen capture and edit is unsurpassed. Not to mention, it allows me to produce simple GIF images, sometimes all that is needed to show a step-by-step process in motion 📸.

And when it comes to more system-driven tutorials, I regularly create demos of system walk-throughs and changes in Camtasia 🎥. Because most of my work in Camtasia is sensitive in nature, I’m not able to share a lot of these demos in my portfolio. But having started instructional design in the IT department, I have extensive Camtasia chops, believe me.

  • If you are familiar with Vyond's software, you will see it is heavily used in my portfolio for eLearning. This is because I believe in the power of animation and human characters coupled with narrative to drive online learning 🎬.

  • I leverage the Adobe Suite to enhance my content creation process, ensuring my instructional materials are both visually appealing, aligned with brand, and effective 🎨.

    • Adobe Photoshop: I use it for image editing and manipulation. It helps me create high-quality visuals, edit photos, and design graphics that capture my audience’s attention 🖼️.

    • Adobe Illustrator: Perfect for vector graphics, I rely on it to create logos, icons, and illustrations that need to be scalable without losing quality ✏️.

  • I leverage Figma in the eLearning content creation process for platforms like Storyline 360. Figma offers a powerful, collaborative platform for prototyping. Its real-time collaboration ensure a smooth design process 🤝. I rely on Figma’s components and styles to maintain consistency across my designs 🔄. I can create interactive prototypes that simulate the user experience in Storyline, helping me test and refine my designs 🖥️. Additionally, I can gather feedback from stakeholders, making real-time adjustments, ensuring my designs meet expectation 📝.

  • AI tools like CoPilot, Claude, Suno, ChatGPT, WellSaid Labs, ElevenLabs, and Adobe Express significantly enhance my instructional design process.

CoPilot, ChatGPT 4o, & Claude assist with coding and scripting for Storyline 360, automating repetitive tasks and generating code snippets, curriculum first drafts, scripts, and live facilitation ice breakers, acting as live assistants 🤖. Suno allows me to craft quality custom music tracks for instructor sessions and background music for media 🎵.

WellSaid Labs & ElevenLabs provide high-quality audio narrations and realistic text-to-speech capabilities, and voice cloning respectively, enhancing the auditory experience for learners 🎙️.

By integrating these into my workflow, I can expedite & automate the design process, better serving learners. 🌟

I am a human espresso shot, a strategic thinker who can juggle tasks with the finesse of a circus performer, even when the pressure is on or the instructions are as clear as mud. I am a creative spark, igniting with ideas in photography, animation, and design.

And when it comes to facilitation, I am a seasoned orator, whether advocating for noble causes, commanding the stage, or enlightening minds in the classroom. Lastly, I am a technology maestro. I test knobs and push buttons, enthusiastic about innovation and play, pushing the boundary of what is possible in the future, especially now in the age of AI.
